This group of social housings are situated in the hillside of “la Piñera”, one of the hills that shapes the city of Algeciras. Surrounded by old housing buildings this development benefits from great views over the Rock of Gibraltar and the Bay of Algeciras. The apartments are modest, with an usable area of 65 square meters and cover the functional programme of social housings.
The three buildings with 3-bay structure try to adapt to the topography. Bedrooms and living rooms take up the outer facades while kitchens and bathrooms are placed in the central bay around the patios. These patios permit cross ventilation, let daylight enter to the corridor between bedrooms, hide the clothes lines and make easier the maintenance of plumbing, sewer and natural gas systems.
