The planned location for the new municipal auditorium is a rectangular plot, approximately 85 x 42 meters, with a gentle slope, nestled in a new residential development area. Our proposal aims to integrate naturally, but without renouncing the representative nature of this type of facility.
The project is characterized by the use of a fully contemporary language and the control of its volume and base level, with the intention of adapting to a low-density residential environment. The organization of the functional program pursues maximum versatility, with comprehensible and properly sized spaces for relationship and circulation for users.
A large entrance patio is designed as a transition space between the public space and the functional areas of the complex. This patio will serve as a meeting place before and after cultural activities and will be able to host other events. In addition it will contribute, thanks to the use of passive strategies, to the hygrothermal control of the building, connecting with the wise ways of our architectural tradition.
From the patio, visitors will be have direct access the exhibition area, the multi-purpose hall, with 208 seats, or the large auditorium with capacity for 798 spectators. Each of these functional areas may be in use independently. In a strategic position, the project includes a small cafeteria that will complement the spaces of the complex and bring life to the center outside of opening hours.
On the opposite side to the main access, and linked to the stage, a loading/unloading area is proposed, as well as an entrance of actors or interpreters, avoiding functional interference with the public.
