We tried to project a rational office building through the achievement of a series of goals: an optimal integration with the surroundings, a clear internal organization, easy circulations for users and visitors, a versatile compartmentalization and comfortable workspaces.
The site, placed between the avenues Américo Vespucio and Leonardo da Vinci, was regulated by detailed rules of the Special Plan of Cartuja. Those rules defined the volume in height, facade alignments, number of floors… resulting in limited design options.
So most of our work was aimed to sculpt this virtual solid according it to the functional program. We created a sequence of accesses, porch, atrium and an empty volume inside that put in relation the different floors, freeing up outdoor and indoor areas to enrich the representative spaces of the building.
The project considered sustainable aspects as facade orientations, natural ventilation and illumination and the incorporation of renewable energies.
Moreover of considering functional and constructive facets of the design, our project tried to integrate the local architecture, characterized by the sunlight control, the use of water and vegetation, the creation of meeting spaces between lights and shadows.
