The City Council proposed the construction of this center, with an extensive program of cultural uses, on the banks of river Lucena, surrounded by gardens previously set by the municipality.
In our proposal, the lobby of the auditorium opened onto the river and the orchards through the cafeteria and meeting and press rooms. Above the auditorium -with a capacity of 800 spectators- we placed the rehearsal rooms, defining the roof of the cultural center.
Behind the stage, a large space placed between the gardens and the river, would be used as a open air auditorium or outer stalls, an usual situation in these towns, while would make easier the entry of both scenic equipment and actors towards the stage. The cultural center, that wrapped the auditorium, contained the required areas as exhibition rooms, library and newspapers area and training workshops.
