The plot that will house the new headquarters of the foundation is a key part of this urban area. It will become the only Western access to a pedestrian walk that will connect institutional and cultural public buildings and green areas as the one of the Monastery of San Pablo or Orive’s garden. Moreover this walk will allow to enjoy a new archaeological itinerary, putting in relation the roman temple ruins of Calle Capitulares and the remains found in the site. Finally, the new headquarter will complete the block facade to Calle Capitulares.
The project tries to assemble the spatial sequence to that hole in the urban fabric: it poses a passage that crosses the building and solves the height difference between the street and the inside of the block; the building, that is structured around this passage, breaks up its volume, symbolizing that the condition of crossing point is the real essence of the project. But the act of crossing will be prolonged in time, allowing the visit to archaeological remains, connecting under the street with the roman temple ruins, feeling the change of sunlight…
